Progress Report

I know. I don’t often do one of these.
That doesn’t mean I haven’t been writing; it just means that I’ve been writing all over the place and couldn’t really see said progress until this week. I was budgeted on Wednesday (sent home from work and not in a bad way) and my regular day off was Thursday–so I took these two days off in row and used them to hammer some structure into my story.
The result? The first draft of part one of five is done…word count is 20,000.
That seemed rather high to me, until I got on the internet and discovered the average novel is 80,000-120,000 words. For one part out of five and assuming the other sections are of equal length (and not longer), I’m on the high end of normal.

It is so amazing to see a big bulk of words in sequence!
